Become a Guardian
Application to be considered as a Guardian
The process to be considered as a Provisional Guardian.
The process of becoming a Provisional Guardian and then having an opportunity to be considered to take on a rescued horse or pony under the Re-homing Scheme Agreement from Baxters Rescue, is as follows:-
The Application Process:
If you wish, you can contact the Equine Welfare Unit here at Baxters Rescue via telephone on:
or you can send a private message through the Baxters Rescue Facebook facility.
This is so you can register your interest to be considered as a Provisional Guardian, whereupon you will be asked to complete and submit an online Guardian Application Form (follow link).
You do not have to contact us before hand, you can simply complete the online Guardian Application form and submit your application to us.
The Equine Welfare Unit will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
It is NOT possible for someone to submit an application on behalf of a third party. Each application is person and case specific. Applications must be submitted by someone who is 16 years of age or older.
It is a condition of the rehoming process that a person must in the first instance, be granted a Provisional Guardianship by Baxters Rescue, before they are eligible to be considered to take on a re-homed horse or pony from us.
If you are already a Registered Guardian with Baxters Rescue, but do not currently look after an equine, we may contact you to see if you are available to take on and re-home a horse or pony.
Having submitted your online application form, the Equine Welfare Unit will review the information you have provided and will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
If all is well you will be granted a Provisional Guardianship.
This will only be upgraded to the status of Registered Guardian (free of charge), after you have taken on and successfully cared for a re-homed horse or pony for a continuous period of 6 months.
If you require any further assistance
in making an application to be considered as a Guardian, please contact the
Equine Welfare Unit via email at:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Guardian and we wish every success with your application.
